For Tim, owner and founder of Outbase Campervans, everything revolves around freedom and adventure. From his workshop, he and his team build unique campervans, all based on the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. Each van is fully custom-made, with a focus on detail, quality, and experience.
At Outbase Campervans, nothing is left to chance. Tim explains: “It’s a product we’ve developed entirely ourselves. Everything inside the van was conceived and designed by us. We don’t use standard prefabricated materials.” Because the team designs and produces everything in-house, every interior can be perfectly tailored to the customer’s wishes. That requires a production method as flexible as their designs.

Their own laser machine
To achieve that high level of customization, Outbase Campervans uses a BRM laser machine.“Our entire interior — everything made of wood — is cut to size with the BRM lasermachine. For us, it’s an essential part of production,” Tim explains. The laser’s precision and efficiency ensure a clean final result and less material waste. “Using the machine creates a better working environment, reduces strain and energy use, and minimizes waste. You can place the cutting lines much closer together than with a CNC machine.”
Before Outbase Campervans had their own laser machine, production was less smooth. “If a part wasn’t cut correctly, we had to have it adjusted by the company that did the cutting for us. That easily took two days,” says Tim. Now, that’s a thing of the past: “These days, you can have a replacement part ready within ten minutes.” Thanks to the BRM lasermachine, the team works faster, more flexibly, and with greater control over the final result.
Collaboration with BRM
Tim is also enthusiastic about the collaboration with BRM. “The installation of the machine was handled very well. During the initial setup, there were a few small adjustments needed to make sure it ran perfectly, but those were solved very quickly. That was a great experience for us.” Since then, the machine has been running flawlessly. “So far, it has operated completely without any issues. And what’s extremely important for us: if the laser machine stops, we lose a day of production. Luckily, that has never happened.”
With their love for freedom, technology, and design, Outbase Campervans doesn’t just buildcampers, they build experiences. Thanks to the precision, reliability, and efficiency of the BRM laser machine, they can do so every day with the same dedication their customers bring to the open road.
