De Nieuwe Kaartenmakers are two young entrepreneurs who make very creative maps. The maps can be hung on the wall as decoration. By using different layers of wood and different colors, the maps are a feast for the eyes.

“What we want to focus on are the depths and heights in the world. Because people have no idea how beautiful it is under water.” The maps are exclusive because only a few are made of each type of map. These are for sale in the webshop of De Nieuwe Kaartmakers.

The method

All maps are drawn by hand on the computer and all wooden plates are painted by hand. “In the end we have to cut it out. And that is simply not possible with a saw. Because that won’t be precise enough. Therefore, every layer is cut with the laser.” After cutting, all wooden pieces are manually glued to the map.

“Our company wouldn’t exist without a laser. Sawing this out with the jigsaw, it will take me one day per layer! And about an hour with the laser. ”
— Kay Peters

Added value

For De Nieuwe Kaartenmakers, the laser machine is essential in the process of making the maps. The high precision of the machine ensures that the maps come out of the machine exactly as they are drawn on the computer. In addition, it is also very fast. “Our company wouldn’t exist without a laser. Sawing this out with the jigsaw, it will take me one day per layer! And about an hour with the laser.” Therefore, De Nieuwe Kaartmakers have never regretted the purchase of their BRM Laser Machine. “ It doesn’t get any better than this. I think the laser is the best tool to do this.”
