When you cut material with the laser machine, the laser beam goes through your material and comes out at the underside of your material, so to speak. Your material is either on the honeycomb table or on the slat table. Both of these are made of metal. As the laser beam passes through your material, the laser beam will hit the metal of the table. The laser beam then bounces back up, against the underside of your material. This causes you to get small burns on the underside of your material.

With the honeycomb table, this happens in several places because the table contains more metal where your material lies.

To counteract the reflection, and therefore the small burn-ins, at the bottom of your material, you can raise your material slightly. You can put something under your material that makes it further away from your honeycomb or slat table. This reduces the power of the reflection so much that it no longer reaches your material.

You can also use an acrylic cutting grid. This is specially made to absorb excess power and in the process it also elevates your material. It is a grid made of acrylic and you put it down on the table. The laser beam comes out of your material and then cuts slightly more into the acrylic of the grid so the beam doesn't bounce up. Because of this, you will have to replace the grid from time to time.

Because it is a grid, the fumes are properly extracted. The grate does not block this. Also, loose objects stay on the grate, they do not fall through, unless of course they are very small objects. The openings in the grid are approximately 14 by 14 mm. The grid itself is 400 by 600 mm and you can place several grids on your work area, depending on what you need in terms of surface area.

If you want to elevate your material yourself, you can do so as well. Make sure that the material you elevate with is not metal. Furthermore, the fumes must be able to be exhausted, so do not place a whole plate underneath, then the smoke cannot escape.
